Company History and Development

  • Founded in 1975, bearing the name Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 24, which is a member of Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation.
  • In 1985 it merged with Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 22, and renamed as Central Pharmaceutical Factory No 24 - MEKOPHAR.
  • In 1993, it took part in a joint-venture with South Korean company, Woopyung, to form a joint-venture company Woopyung - Mekophar, which is the first and one only in Vietnam producer of semi-synthetic betalactam antibiotics such as: Amoxicilin, Ampicilin. 
  • In 2000, Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 24 bought back the whole part of its business partner in the joint-venture company Woopyung-Mekophar which became the Betalactam Antibiotic Factory of the Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 24.
  • In 2001,it had been renamed officially as Mekophar Chemical Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company. (as per Decision No 1589/QĐ-TTg, on 12/19/2001 by the Prime Minister of the Government in relation of the equitization of the Central Pharmaceutical Enterprise No 24 – a member unit of  Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation). Officially changes its mode of business operation from state-owned enterprise into share-holding company with the legal capital of VNĐ 36 billions.
  • In 2003, the Company invested the founding shares in An Sinh General Hospital and the Hospital went into business on 05/07/2006.
  • In 2006, the Company debuted its IPO, with stock code MKP, its legal capital is increased to VNĐ 84 billions.
  • In 2008, the stem cell bank has been established as MekoStem (as per Decision No 4001/UBND-VX issued by People Committe of Ho Chi Minh city on  06/25/2008) and got Business License No 3144/QĐ-BYT by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam on 08/03/2011.

The chartered capital is increased to VND 92.1  billions.

  • In 2010, the Company is listing and exchanging its stock on HOSE floor (Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange).
  • In 2011, the chartered capital is increased to VND 101,159,320,000
  • In 2014, the chartered capital is increased to VND 131,234,130,000
  • In 2015, the chartered capital is increased to VND 151,234,130,000
  • In 2016, the chartered capital is increased to VND 194,208,130,000
